How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
What You Need To Know About Jewelry_ Concepts, Types, Care, Trends, And Desig...Heman Chen
Hey there, jewelry enthusiasts! Whether you're a jewelry store owner, designer, or just someone who loves bling, this guide has got you covered. Let's dive into the world of sparkly gems and shiny metals!
First up, jewelry types. Think diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and more. Each gem has its own story. Diamonds are super hard and perfect for engagement rings. Rubies are fiery red and symbolize passion. Sapphires are cool blue and great for adding a touch of elegance. And don't forget pearls—they're timeless and classy.
When it comes to jewelry care, it's all about knowing your materials. High-hardness gems like diamonds can take a quick dip in cleaning solution. Softer ones like amber need a gentle touch with a velvet cloth. And pearls? Keep them away from sweat and sunlight. A soft cloth is all they need.
Design trends are all about mixing it up. Minimalist metal necklaces are perfect for everyday wear. Chokers are sexy and elegant. And if you're feeling bold, go for asymmetrical earrings—they make a statement! Customized jewelry is also huge. Imagine a piece that tells your story or reflects your style. It's not just jewelry; it's a piece of you.
Sizing is crucial too. Rings? Measure your finger, but remember, comfort is key. Add or subtract a millimeter to get the perfect fit. Necklaces? Different lengths for different looks. A 33 cm choker is great for a snug fit, while a 90 cm chain can drape beautifully.
Learning to sketch jewelry designs? Start by copying. It’s like learning to walk before you run. Analyze shapes, practice lines, and gradually you’ll get the hang of it. Sketching helps you visualize your ideas and bring them to life.
So, whether you're a jewelry store looking to expand your collection, a designer seeking inspiration, or just someone who loves to wear unique pieces, this guide is your go-to resource. Dive in, get inspired, and let your creativity shine!
How To Master Jewelry Design_ Necklaces, Headwear, And Thematic Sets_.pptxHeman Chen
Hey there, jewelry lovers! If you're in the biz of crafting, selling, or just admiring beautiful jewelry, this guide is your ultimate cheat sheet. Whether you're designing necklaces, headwear, or themed sets, we've got you covered with practical tips and creative inspiration.
First up, necklaces. Think double layers, bold retro styles, and natural jade beads that not only look amazing but also boost your health. Drawing them? Start with a sketch, outline those gemstones, and add highlights to make them pop. Remember, natural whites give the best sparkle!
For headwear, imagine sapphires, diamonds, and rose gold in a flower branch shape. It's all about symmetry and reflective colors to avoid that stiff look. The drawing steps are pretty detailed, but the result is worth it—a piece that feels both stable and luxurious.
Now, let's talk themed sets. "Happiness" means four-leaf clovers, green crystals, and a touch of royal yellow. These pieces are all about joy and luck, perfect for gifting. And if "Eternal" is your vibe, think leaves, rubies, and a strong red-green contrast. These designs are timeless and elegant, great for any occasion.
Whether you're a jewelry store owner, a designer, or an e-commerce seller, these tips will help you create pieces that stand out. Happy designing!

How To Design The Perfect Jewelry Store Display And Space_.pptxHeman Chen
Hey there, jewelry lovers! If you’re looking to make your jewelry store or display stand out, you’ve come to the right place. This guide is all about creating a space that not only looks amazing but also sells like crazy!
First up, the exterior. Your storefront is like your first impression. You want it to be eye-catching and inviting. Think transparent glass doors that make it easy for people to peek inside, and a bright, colorful logo that screams “come in!” Modern designs work great, but if your jewelry has a more traditional vibe, go for classic patterns and materials. Lighting is key here too—make sure it’s bright enough to highlight your brand and keep things looking safe.
Next, let’s talk windows. These are your mini-advertisements to the world. A well-done window display can stop people in their tracks. Use themes that match your jewelry style. If you’re going for a floral vibe, go all out with flowers and soft colors. If it’s a holiday, decorate with festive elements. Remember, the goal is to tell a story and make people feel something.
Inside the store, it’s all about flow and function. Your layout should guide customers naturally through the space. Use display cases that match your style—modern for diamonds, traditional for gold and jade. Lighting is crucial here too. Layered lighting can create depth, while accent lights can highlight your best pieces. And don’t forget about safety! Secure display cases are a must.
Finally, think about the little details. Use unique shapes and materials to create a memorable experience. Maybe a circular display or a flowing water theme? The idea is to make your space feel special and unique.
So, whether you’re a jewelry store owner, a designer, or even an online seller looking to upgrade your display, these tips will help you create a space that shines. Happy designing!

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.
